Portage Lake Postcards
Portage Lake, Dexter, Mich., circa early 1900’s. This postcard scene shows the Bluff looking north from the west shoreline. There are water weeds growing in the foreground, not there in the present day.
Portage Lake, Dexter, Mich., postmarked 1947. The short docks probably mean that the water is deep at the shoreline, which is still true of the southwest side of the lake. Most of the cottages in this view have rock or stone seawalls.
