Baseline Lake Postcards

Base Lake, Lakeland, Mich., postmarked 1913. Though this card is labeled Lakeland, which would imply the location is on the north side, the cottages and shoreline identify it as the south side.

Base Lake, Dexter Michigan, written in ink on the view side., postmarked 1913. The cottage is named “Oak Lodge” at the bottom of the dormer window. I believe it to be the same cottage as the far right one shown in the previous postcard. It has the same wrought iron bench next to the wood walkway leading to the dock, the same ivy climbing from the porch railing. There’s a young woman lounging in the hammock on the front porch.

Postmarked From the Grand River Station in Detroit, this card was sent to Belgium. Part of the message on the back is written in French.
