The Huron River, Dexter, Mich., postmarked 1909. An uninhabited stretch of the River shows a bend with a hill in the background, a rowboat in the foreground upstream.
Hudson Mills began as a community near a mill on the river. In the late 1800’s the post office for the settlement was called Base Lake. There was also a Hudson Mills Michigan Central Railroad station. Currently, a beautiful Hudson Mills Metropark surrounds the river with trails, a picnic area, and sports fields.
