Portage Lake Postcards
Newport Beach – Portage Lake, Dexter, Mich., circa 1930’s- 1950’s. As evidenced by the number of picnic tables, Newport Beach Club was (and is) a favorite spot for families for decades on the south end of Portage Lake. The willow tree on the left grew to enormous size, and was a favorite gathering spot for racing sailors until it came down in a storm in the 1980’s.

What used to be Newport Beach is now Portage Yacht Club, still active and popular on Portage Lake, accessed by water and from Dexter-Pinckney Road.
