South Side Base Lake, Mich., circa 1909. The postcard was sent in March, and the writer mentions that she had a cutter and a sleigh ride
All three of the cards here were published by Wolverine News Co., Detroit, and printed in Belgium, as were two previous north and south shore postcards. I have five of the cards in my collection, but the numbering system implies that I’m missing one.
All three cards are of the south shore of Base Lake. This shot shows the rise behind the shoreline cottages, with a structure at the top. An early 1900’s version of a pontoon boat with canopy is moored at the right dock.
